The guava (Psidium guajava) has long been valued across traditional and ethnobotanical systems for its remarkable variety of pharmacological characteristics. The plant contains a rich array of bioactive chemicals distributed throughout its leaves, fruit, and bark, which significantly enhance its potential for therapeutic applications in modern medicine and functional nutrition.

  • Objective

The primary objective of this review is to compile and synthesize the most recent scientific information regarding the pharmacological properties of guava, with a specific emphasis on its anti-inflammatory, anti-hypertensive, anti-obesity, antioxidant, antidiarrheal, and antidiabetic properties, as well as its capacity to treat dental ailments and safely increase hemoglobin levels within the human body.

  • Methods

To comprehensively assess the potential health benefits derived from guava, an exhaustive review of in vitro, in vivo, and human clinical investigations was conducted, evaluating extraction methodologies, bioactive constituents, and associated physiological endpoints.
